The requirements of the fur trade have always been
high. Consumers expect companies in the fur trade to operate sustainably
and adhere to high standards of animal welfare. SwissFur has played a leading
role in the area of transparency and quality for many years in submitting a
product certificate – and in the declaration requirement for furs and fur
products, which came into force in Switzerland on 1 March 2013. The association
also welcomed the international Furmark certification system, which was introduced
in 2021 and certifies natural fur that guarantees animal welfare and
environmental standards.
